HISTORY

During 1982 Dr. Frank Garofalo began a home bible study in Staten Island New York. As God’s word took root in people’s lives, the bible study grew and by 1983 Dr. Garofalo began a church, Love In Christ Fellowship. Moving to Brooklyn New York, the church flourished and a need for further growth was evident. Around 1984 Dr. Garofalo desire was to see bible education and training as a goal within his ministry. While in prayer and the Spirit one day, Dr. Garofalo saw a vision of a barn closed and shut tight. The Spirit of God spoke to him and said, “my people are starving, my barn is filled and there is no one to feed them.” Dr. Garofalo replied, “Lord what must I do to feed them?’ To which the Spirit of God said, “Feed them of My Spirit.” As soon as He spoke, the locks on the barn broke and a Dove flew out.

Upon hearing from the Lord, Dr. Garofalo began a bible school, NYC Full Gospel Bible Institute under the Full Gospel Assemblies International. He pursed from that time, and to present, the commission of teaching, training, and sending forth workers into the harvest of the Lord Jesus Christ. The bible school gained momentum and in 1990, due to the demand for urban ministry and credentialed ministers, the school grew into a seminary.

From its beginnings, NYC Full Gospel Theological Seminary has seen numerous licensed and ordained graduate students, many of whom are in wonderful ministries today. As the students were being credentialed, Dr. Garofalo saw a need for the students to be a part of an organization of ministerial fellowship. In 1992, Dr. Garofalo began The National Association of Christian Counselors, Ministers and Churches through NYC Full Gospel Theological Seminary. Besides being a resource to graduating students, the association is comprised of many churches, ministries and counselors. Currently the seminary is training people through out the United States and overseas as well.

ACCREDITATION (Documentation)

Although the word seminary may imply graduate training for higher institutional learning, the Seminary has been established for the sole purpose of issuing credentials to men and women as certified licensed and ordained ministers. The Seminary is incorporated and filed with the IRS as an exempt church and educational school. With this status, we may train as well as ordain and commission Churches.

Our emphasis is not to achieve a secular accreditation, although we issue diploma and degree for ministry purpose only. Our mission is to equip the minister with practical education for his/her ministry. We continue in this practical path as the means of fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.

  

PRIVATE RELIGIOUS ACCREDITATION 

Transworld Accrediting Commission 

NYC Full Gospel Theological Seminary has chosen to associate itself with Transworld Accrediting Commission International  (TAC) www.traccom.org which exists to assure the quality and assist in the improvement of the institution or program that they accredit, preschool through postsecondary—within the shared Biblical distinctives by establishing an organization witness to creditability of performance and integrity. The Transworld Accrediting Commission International (TAC) is a professional non-profit church educational organization whose philosophy is to demonstrate accountability to the consuming public for education obtained in non-traditional evangelical institutions. This accountability is demonstrated by institutions that are accredited by TAC, having documented evidence of compliance with TAC standards of structure and governance, material resources, policies, faculty and curriculum.  

NYC Full Gospel Theological Seminary has chosen this method to proceed to full accreditation under TAC with our first level as an “Associate Member”.  Although TAC is not a registered agency under the US Department of Education, most Christian schools seek private religious agencies to be accountable to, such as TAC. TAC has many biblical institutions under their commission and NYCFGTS students can participate with these schools and ministries nationally and internationally.  

Exemption Status 

The Seminary has obtained exemption status with the FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION and having complied with Section 1005.06 (1) (f), Florida Statutes pursuant to Religious institutions dated July 19, 2006. The entitlement allows the Seminary to issue religious degree in the Associate, Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degree levels with a religious modifier. The Seminary renews the exemption from the Florida Department of Education each year.
